The Transatlantic Policy Network on Religion & Diplomacy (TPNRD) gathered in Istanbul from 31 May to 2 June 2023 for a meeting hosted by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. Gathering in Istanbul enabled the network to engage directly with His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I and other senior clerics at the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Key topics of the conversation included the history and function of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and its involvement in such pressing international issues as the war in Ukraine, combatting human trafficking, working on climate change, and engaging in ecumenical and interfaith dialogue. While in Istanbul the TPNRD also met with Catholic and Muslim leaders and visited the Theological School of Halki.
